First Choice Home Health and Hospice - Cedar

    Warm Professional Coordinated Responsive Care

I had a very positive experience - caregivers were warm, patient and knowledgeable, and the coordinated team (nurses, therapists, social workers and hospice) provided attentive care, clear communication, teaching for ostomy and wound care, and flexible, responsive scheduling. Amy and Amanda were especially helpful; the staff were professional, compassionate, and I would gladly recommend this team.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: The reviews paint First Choice Home Health and Hospice - Cedar as a clinically capable, compassionate in-home care agency with strong emphasis on personalized attention and team-based coordination. Families and clinicians praised both clinical and nonclinical staff for a combination of bedside warmth and practical skills; the agency is frequently described as attentive, responsive, and willing to provide extra support beyond baseline expectations.

Caregiver quality and clinical competence: Reviewers consistently highlighted compassionate, respectful caregivers and professionally skilled nurses. Several accounts emphasize clinical strengths such as wound and ostomy care, rehabilitative support, and instruction for family caregivers. The agency’s interdisciplinary model — nurses, therapists, social workers and volunteers working together — is presented as a strength that supports measurable progress during recovery and confidence in clinical decision-making.

Communication and office management: Communication and responsiveness are recurring positives. Families describe clear explanations from clinicians, reliable follow-up after transitions (including end-of-life care), and staff members who act effectively as liaisons between clinic and home. Named staff in leadership and coordination roles were singled out as helpful, suggesting active case-management and accessible office support.

Reliability and scheduling: Timeliness and flexibility are commonly noted: caregivers arriving on-time, accommodating schedules, and being available for needed visits. At the same time, a pattern of multiple caregivers covering a client (versus a single consistent aide) appears in reviews; while many families were satisfied with this approach, prospective clients should clarify caregiver-assignment practices if continuity with a primary aide is important to them.

Value and billing: Review content focuses heavily on care quality and personnel; there is little public commentary about pricing, billing practices, or insurance-navigation. Prospective clients would be advised to request explicit estimates, billing procedures, and insurance-authorization guidance during intake to confirm financial expectations.

Notable patterns and recommendations: The agency demonstrates strengths in hospice integration, end-of-life follow-up, and family education, with staff described as going "above and beyond" when needed. Areas for prospective clients to verify during intake are caregiver continuity (to ensure a preferred level of consistency), written information about specialized programs (for example, dementia-specific services if relevant), and clear billing/insurance explanations. Overall, the reviews depict an organization that combines clinical skill with empathetic care and effective coordination, while leaving a few operational items for families to confirm directly with the agency.
